Analyzer International’s Safety Plans, Procedures and Policy on Infection Prevention of COVID-19 – Jan 2022

What we know:

The Covid-19 is highly infectious and deadly.  It is a brand new X-type virus human beings have never encountered before.  It is NOT a normal FLU.  We need to be fearful of it because there are many silent carriers of the virus who do not show any symptoms at all but are highly infectious, and that the virus is mutating all the times with unknown transmissibility and pathogenicity.

What we DO NOT know:

There is a lot about the virus we do not know.  We do not know exactly how it infects. It could be from particulates in the air, droplets of saliva and mucus in the air or on contaminated surfaces etc.  Increasingly, many cases of infections are of unknown origins.  We are hoping for the effective vaccines and cures to mitigate the pandemic.

What we NEED to DO:

Given the great uncertainties, risks and severities of the disease, it is very important that we CHANGE our mindset and behaviors to adapt to this new environment.

Mindset:

We must treat this pandemic with alarm and take the necessary precautions to survive. This Coronavirus should dictate the ways we conduct our life and work.  Treat every person in public that you encounter as potential carrier and every surface in public places that you touch as potentially infected.  Always guard against precaution fatigue.

Behaviors:

  • Socially isolate if at all possible. Avoid parties, restaurants and meetings where face to face encounters may potentially be infectious.
  • Work remotely if at all possible.
  • Order online groceries and necessities and have them delivered.
  • Communicate without face to face if at all possible via cell phones, emails, texts etc.
  • Protect yourself if face to face encounter is inevitable and while working in the field.
    • Wear a protective face mask (N95 or surgical, usually 3-ply). Wear face mask correctly: The inside is usually lighter in color, and the top edge harder and stronger. Make sure the mask cover as much as the lower face area as possible. After putting on, press down on the mask around the nose region, and pull the lower edge to cover the lower chin area firmly. It should be worn snug and tight and firm.  Face masks alone might not provide 100% protection against Covid-19 virus and should not lull us into a false sense of security.
    • Wear goggles to protect your eyes.
    • Wear protective disposable overall if at all possible (the white disposable overall that Caltrans use for night work) on site.
    • Wear hoods to cover the ears if at all possible.
    • Wear disposal gloves if working on objects and materials in the field.
    • Practice social distancing when working in the field. Maintain at least 6 to 10 ft social distance.  Stay away from downwind side or air-conditioned room where one is impacted by constant air stream.
    • Sanitize or wash your hands often, especially before meal, right after coming home, right after work etc or when you see a need to do so.
    • Disinfect your usually work place( desk and chair, steering wheel, car seat etc or places and objects you see fit) with Clorox disinfecting wipes or other disinfectants.
    • Designate Safe and Unsafe Areas at home and work. Leave shoes, boots, objects that you use for work and outside business in unsafe areas and disinfect the unsafe areas and exposed objects often.
    • Shower and clean yourself after coming home from work or outside business.
    • Put into laundry clothes etc that we wear for outside work and business each time we come home.
    • All protective gears and materials are reimbursable by Analyzer.
